The Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) requires four years of full-time study (or the equivalent part-time). The first two years of the award will be undertaken at Flinders University. The latter 2 years will either be taken at the University of South Australia (Mawson Lakes campus) or Charles Darwin University (Casuarina campus or externally).
The Award will be conferred by the University of South Australia or Charles Darwin University depending on which institution at Third and Fourth Year is chosen to study.
The first two years of the course are offered by the School of Computer Science, Engineering and Mathematics, within the Faculty of Science and Engineering.
The minimum requirements for consideration for entry to all undergraduate courses are specified in detail in the University Entry Requirements.
Successful completion of either SACE Stage 2 (Year 12) Mathematical Studies or Mathematical Methods is normally required for entry to the Bachelor of Engineering (Civil). Knowledge of SACE Stage 2 (Year 12) Chemistry and Physics is assumed.
The course has been designed to provide graduates with:
On completion of the award, students will be able to:
To qualify for the Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) a student must complete 144 units (72 units at Flinders) with a grade of P or NGP or better in each topic, according to the program of study below.
Subject to passing all first and second year topics, students are guaranteed transfer to the University of South Australia or Charles Darwin University (depending on the course applied for) to complete the remaining two years of their program. Any requests for transfer under different circumstances will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
This award may be started in either Semester 1 or Semester 2, however transition to the University of South Australia is only possible in Semester 1. Transition to Charles Darwin University may occur in either Semester 1 or Semester 2.
Not all topics are necessarily available in a given year.
