The minimum requirements for consideration for entry to all undergraduate courses are specified in detail in the University Entry Requirements.
This course will have a fixed quota of places and will only admit that number of applicants with the highest Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR). Admission to this course in 2011 will be restricted to this cohort of applicants.
From 2012 a quota will be made available for students currently enrolled in the Bachelor of Laws and Legal Practice, Bachelor of Laws and Legal Practice (Graduate Entry) and tertiary transfer students from other higher education institutions. Applicants will be selected on the basis of the highest grade point average after completion of either 36 units and 72 units of law topics, respectively, or at least 36 units of another degree.
Credit may be granted for equivalent level topics taken at other institutions. Other than in exceptional circumstances and with the approval of the Board of the School of Law, at least half of the units towards the degree must be obtained from topics offered by Flinders University.
To qualify for the Bachelor of Laws and Legal Practice (Honours) as a graduate entry student, a student must complete 126 units with a grade of P or NGP or better in each topic, comprising 94.5 units of compulsory topics, 18 units of Legal Practice core topics, 4.5 units of electives and the 9 unit dissertation topic, as set out below. Students will need to have a GPA of 5.8 or higher to enter the final year of the course. Those not meeting this requirement will transfer to the Bachelor of Laws and Legal Practice.
Electives may be taken from topics not offered or cross-listed by the School of Law only with the written permission of the School Board. Under no circumstances will permission be given to take topics where entry and course requirements are not met, or the School Board has designated them as unacceptable.
Except with permission of the School Board the program must be completed within ten consecutive years.
The award of a grade of Fail (F) on more than one occasion in the same topic may constitute prima facie evidence of unsatisfactory progress for the purposes of the University#39;s Policy on Student Progress.
Not all elective topics are necessarily available in a given year.
The Board of the School of Law may specify that two or more topics represent unacceptable combinations.
