A student who has completed all the requirements of the Bachelor of International Tourism, or another qualification which the Faculty Board agrees is equivalent, may be accepted as a candidate for the honours degree providing a sufficiently high standard has been achieved in fulfilling the requirements for the bachelors degree.
Course aims
The course aims to:
- extend students#39; knowledge and understanding of the Tourism industry and the role of research within industry contexts
- familiarise students with advanced skills in academic writing, including thesis preparation and standards required for publication
- provide students with the skills to present their research orally and in writing
- encourage students to become independent thinkers and researchers.
Learning outcomes
On completion of the Honours degree in International Tourism students will be able to demonstrate:
- an extensive knowledge of the tourism industry in a local, state, national and/or international context;
- a broad understanding of the existing academic knowledge in the area of their specialisation
- a capacity to develop and support the extended argument needed for an Honours research thesis
- the ability to evaluate, analyse and deploy evidence in support of a research thesis
- the ability to communicate their findings clearly, in both oral and written form.
