A student who has completed all the requirements of the Bachelor of Creative Arts, or another qualification which the Faculty Board agrees is equivalent, may be accepted as a candidate for the Honours degree provided a sufficiently high standard has been achieved in fulfilling the requirements for the Bachelor's degree.
To qualify for the Honours degree, a student must complete satisfactorily 36 units of study as specified. The program requires one year of full-time study or the equivalent part-time.
Course aims
The course aims to provide students with:
- advanced creative, conceptual and technical skills and knowledge to enable them to produce and promote original creative work in their specific field;
- high-level knowledge of the processes involved in producing creative work and the opportunity to implement these processes in their specific field;
- the skills and knowledge to be able to successfully undertake research activities and artistic projects;
- knowledge about career pathways in the creative industries, and the opportunity to develop extended skills and knowledge to enable them to be successful in their chosen career.
Learning outcomes
Upon completion, graduates will be able to:
- demonstrate and apply the advanced creative, cognitive and technical skills required by professional practitioners in the creative industries to produce and promote original creative work
- demonstrate high-level knowledge of the processes involved in producing creative work
- review, analyse and critically evaluate ideas, and set and solve research problems
- demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively with a range of professionals and participate effectively in a creative team
- demonstrate advanced knowledge of research principles and methods and of the ethical considerations of research and artistic activity in the creative industries
- independently design, plan and execute research activities and artistic projects
- work within employment structures in their chosen field and have demonstrated the ability to identify some of the employment opportunities available in the creative industries.
